I picked standard SC.912.TI.1.7. This standard is about evaluating ways in which technology can improve accessibility for students with disabilities. I interpret this standard as a way to get accommodations for students who need extra help. I feel prepared to implement this into my classroom as a special education teacher because having technology is a great learning tool, and making it accessible to all students would be very beneficial. I think this standard would be necessary to have technology in my classroom.

The tool i picked from CPALMS educator toolkit was ELA.K12.EE.6.1. I picked the tool where teachers know how to decipher between formal and informal language. This includes using appropriate  tone when speaking to your students. I think this is very important especially when teaching younger students, because you want there to be boundaries in language and tone. Some would call it a "teacher voice" to remain appropriate in front of your students.

When it comes to browsing the internet, it is important to have efficient internet searching skills. It is crucial because as a teacher, you need to make sure the resources you are using with your students are age appropriate. With the skills I learned this week, the most important skill I learned was the knowledge on licensing and copyright. As a teacher you reuse a lot of existing lesson plans, artwork and more, so it is important you are using accessible resources.

When it comes to AI in education, I believe it can be a great resource as well as a negative tool. When using it correctly, you can spark new ideas, expand vocabulary, make self-assessments and more. When using it incorrectly, you can have AI write content for you, find answers unauthentically and more. As a K-12 student, I think AI is a great tool when used correctly, but a majority of students these ages abuse it massively.

As a teacher, I would make sure everything I use is public domain. I think is important to only use resources if they are available to the public. When developing my own instructional materials, I wouldn't mind sharing them with other teachers through systems such as teachers pay teachers. I think it still important to have licenses, but when it comes to lesson plans, I don't mind sharing them. I didn't know you could license images so easily, as well as the creative commons license. I thought it would be a longer more complex process, but it was very simple.

With technology comes many implementation issues. The issue i find most concerning is cyberbullying. In my future classroom, I would add restrictions to technology I allow in the classroom. I would also monitor my students when they are actively using the technology. This could mean walking around the classroom as the students work, as well as adding locks to certain apps.

I developed a lot new skills from creating my newsletter. I learned how to make a email link, a hyperlink, a permission slip and columns. In the future, I feel I could improve on the columns portion. It was hard for me to line up the words once they were in the columns. In my future career as a teacher, I will definitely use skills like creating the email link and hyperlink, as those will be important when sending home information to the parents.

Throughout my schooling experience, I have had a lot of experience using MS Word. In K-12, I was exposed to Word a good amount. Throughout technology classes and normal class assignments, Word was used a lot when it came to canvas assignments. I used paper a lot more in K-12 compared to college. In college, I rarely use paper. Everything is virtual and almost every single assignment requires a software like Word. I personally prefer Google Docs more than MS Word. For me, I have trouble downloading Word docs on my computer, where Google Docs have been easy to download and overall easier to navigate all together.

The most meaningful ISTE Standard to me is 2.5a Designer. This standard states technology is useful in creating personalized learning and fostering independent learning. This is most meaningful to me because I feel as technology has made personalized learning very easy, as you can accommodate a lot of different learning styles using technology. This includes learning through readings, videos, games and more. The possibilities are endless with educational technology and from my own experience, a lot of technological tools have helped my learning experience drastically.

When discussing the label "digital native" I feel it is very accurate when describing the generation that grew up with technology. To be a digital native, you have adjusted to a "normal" life with technology playing a huge role in it. You also probably know how to use technology better than those who didn't grow up with technology integrated in their lives. I feel as I can see differences between my teachers and I. I feel digital natives know more tricks to technology, as we are finding tools to help us find more information. This has helped my learning experience by being able to find more research, more access to readings, quizlets and more. There are so many learning tools that digital natives have discovered to make the learning process very easy. I feel as technology will continue to advance more and more in future generations. It is exciting to see what more is come.

I hope expand my knowledge of educational technology as well as how to navigate it. I want to learn about new resources such as blogs, padlets and more. I want to learn about these so I can implement them into my future classroom and future assignments. Knowing about all of these tools can help my future career as I would have more opportunities within my lesson plans, prestations and more.

Some of my prior experience with technology includes powerpoints, word documents, spreadsheets and various types of social media. Throughout some of my college courses, I have learned how to use these resources very well. I have more recently been exposed to Canva, which I feel has expanded my creativeness in assignments and designing. I want to get better at spreadsheets and graphs as that is a area I feel I could improve on.

My existing personal learning networks include connections through sorority sisters, first hand experience in mothers classroom, past education classes and more. All of these have allowed me to learn more about becoming a better teacher as well as which teaching style works best for me. I love learning more about best buddies, as it is a big passion of mine. I love working with students with disabilities. Every student I work with helps me learn more about each disability and what accommodations work best for them. Some learning resources I use to support my learning needs are google calendar, canva and so many more tools. I love having these resources to help keep me organized, motivated and creative.
