I have had very early experiences with social media, as I was exposed to apps like snapchat and instagram at a really young age. I found it beneficial when I was younger because I did extracurriculars from a very young age, and would need to communicate with adults in many different instances. Learning how to use social media so young made me very knowledgeable when I started needing to use technology in a educational setting. In my future career, social media can help me network and create new ideas.
Growing up, I went to a digitally rich school. My K-12 school had computer labs, communal ipads and computers, which made technology very accessible at all times. Having all of these resources made me very knowledgeable about technology. When going to college, all of the platforms like canvas and microsoft were very familiar to me. Since I used these platforms a lot in high school, I felt I was at an advantage over some students who never used them. Something I could have done better was learn how to organize my technology as sometimes I would lose track of unfinished assignments.
I have experienced a good amount of collaborative writing and social annotation throughout K-12 and college. From shared microsoft documents and powerpoints, collaborative writing has been persistent through my education. Some software tools I would bring into my future classroom are Miro, google docs and other microsoft tools. These tools can foster learning by learning group skill work, how to communicate in social setting as well as learning teamwork. A lesson I would incorporate these tools in are group discussions. This allows for brainstorming and creativity.
